Christmas Day became the setting of a war between Warner Brothers and Disney, with both companies putting a major movie that should have been released in cinemas on their own streaming services.

Pixar’s “Soul” was added to Disney+ as an exclusive, while DC Comics Wonder Woman 1984 was added to HBO Max, though the movie was also released in theatres.

According to Samba TV, “Soul” was streamed by 2.4 million Disney+ households in the U.S. over the holiday weekend which was 200,000 more than streamed Wonder Woman 84 domestically on HBO Max.

Samba TV gained this information by tracking data from more than 13.5 million smart TVs in the US.

While in the UK, 651,000 households streamed “Soul”.  More people watching the film on Boxing Day (December 26th) in both the US and the UK when just over 1 million households and 135,000 households streamed the movie, respectively.

“Mulan” was another popular film over the holiday weekend, with 62,000 U.K. households and 259,000 U.S. households watching the film.   More Brits watched “Mulan” on Boxing Day, with nearly 20,000 households watching it that day, while in the U.S. the peak was on Christmas Day with nearly 85,000 households streaming it.
