Following the merging of Showtime and Paramount+ earlier this year, Paramount has slowly changed its streaming and linear businesses to unify to reduce costs and offer a single platform.  With the Showtime brand being retired as a standalone name.

As part of this rebranding, the Showtime linear channel will be rebranded to Paramount+ with Showtime from January 8th 2024.  The channel will feature shows from Showtime and also Paramount+ Original series.  It will be the first-of-its-kind multiplatform brand that integrates streaming and linear content.

This change will also impact anyone subscribing to Showtime as a premium add-on through Hulu, as this will be rebranded to Paramount+ With Showtime.

“The move aligns the brand with the Paramount+ With Showtime plan, a cornerstone integration for the streaming service, making this the first of its kind multiplatform brand that integrates streaming and linear content.”

Subscribers have received emails over the past week informing them of the change.  It’s also worth noting that the price of the Showtime add-on will increase to $11.99/month on January 11th, 2024, which is the price of Paramount+ With Showtime!

Showtime will automatically become “Paramount+ with Showtime”, so if you are already a subscriber, there is nothing you need to do.  As part of the rebrand, Showtime subscribers will now have access to more premium storytelling with new Paramount+ Original series SEXY BEAST, the upcoming second season of “Halo” and the best of Paramount+, beginning January 8th, including “Halo” (S1), Taylor Sheridan’s “Mayor Of Kingstown”  (S1-2), “Star Trek: Discovery” (S1-4), “Wolf Pack” (S1) and more.

Paramount is also closing its Showtime Anywhere App on December 14th 2023, so anyone subscribing to Hulu won’t have access to that any more.

With the shift away from linear platforms, many premium channels have had to make adjustments to the streaming platforms, and this is unlikely to be the last one.

While Hulu On Disney+ launched last week in the United States, currently, no premium add-on content is available through Disney+, though this could change when the program leaves its beta state in March; it’ll be interesting if Disney+ will also offer Max, Starz and Paramount+ with Showtime content!
