Disney has announced that Hulu has acquired the U.S. rights for the upcoming film, “Self Reliance”, which is about a man who is offered a million dollars to play a game in which hunters try to kill him. He thinks he has found the perfect loophole: they can only attack when he’s alone. His only problem is that none of his friends or family believe the game is real.

The film has been written and directed by Jake Johnson, who is also making his directorial debut, plus he will also be starring in the film, along with Anna Kendrick, Natalie Morales, Andy Samberg, GaTa, Emily Hampshire, Mary Holland, Boban Marjanović, Christopher Lloyd and Wayne Brady.

This movie has been produced by Lonely Island and Walcott Productions, with Ali Bell, Joe Hardesty and Jake Johnson serving as producers, and executive producers include Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone.   This deal for US distribution of the film was made with MRC and Paramount Global Content Distribution,

“Self Reliance” premiered earlier this year at the SXSW Film Festival in March, and it will be coming to Hulu on September 8th 2023.
