Searchlight Pictures Developing “The Glitch”
Disney’s Searchlight Pictures is now working on an adaptation of the bestselling novel “The Glitch”, which was written by Leeanne Slade, who is the internationally bestselling author of romantic novels “The Rebound” and “Told You So”.
The film will tell the story of Grace Monroe, who, after a failed birthday wish sends her five years into the past, gets a rare chance to rewrite her story – this time, with her heart and career intact. But as she tries to outsmart fate and avoid the heartbreak she knows is coming, she discovers that some love stories are meant to happen, no matter the timeline.
This new project is being created by Marielle Heller and Leah Holzer from Defiant by Nature, who have previously worked with Searchlight Pictures on “NightBitch”, along with Amazon’s “What the Constitution Means to Me”. It’ll be produced by Perry Mason and it is being adapted by Eleanor Burgess, who previously worked on “Interview With the Vampire”.
SVP of Production Taylor Friedman is overseeing the project for Searchlight Pictures, reporting to Heads of Production and Development Katie Goodson-Thomas and DanTram Nguyen.
Leeanne took to social media to share her thoughts on her book becoming a movie:
You’d think, given I’ve had almost a year to prepare for this, that I might have something eloquent and insightful to say… but all I have is: AHOSIHDJFOHDKFKWJE!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, but seriously… romantic movies, much like romantic novels, are still fighting for the respect they deserve, so to have two storytelling powerhouses like @searchlightpics and Marielle Heller taking on The Glitch feels like a fever dream. I knew from the first conversation that my book would be in excellent hands with them, and I cannot wait to see what magic they create!

No other details on this upcoming film have been revealed, such as who will be directing or starring in it, nor when it will be released, either in cinemas or directly onto Disney+ and Hulu.
