Seann William Scott To Star In “Shifting Gears” Comedy Series
Earlier this year, it was revealed that 20th Television was working on a brand new comedy show called “Shifting Gears.” The show will star Tim Allen, who will play the lead role of Matt, the stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. Matt’s estranged daughter Riley, played by Kat Denning, is now divorced and forced to move back in with her dad’s house, along with her two teenage kids.
This new series will also star Daryl “Chill” Mitchell as Stitch, Maxwell Simkins as Carter and Barrett Margolis as Georgia.
Deadline has revealed that Seann William Scott has joined the cast and will be playing the role of Gabriel, a family friend of Matt (Allen) and Riley (Dennings), who works in the shop with Matt.
This character wasn’t originally featured in the pilot, as initially there was a different character called Nick, who was Matt’s son and Riley’s game coder younger brother, who was played by Froy Gutierrez, who has been replaced by Gabriel.
Seann William Scott has previously starred in the “American Pie” films, along with many shows including “Lethal Weapon” and “Welcome To Flatch”.
Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully wrote the pilot and were executive producers on the project. However, they will no longer be working on the project moving forward, so Tim Allen has been looking for a replacement showrunner for weeks.
Other executive producers are Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, and Rick Messina. John Pasquin, who has previously worked on “Home Improvement” and “The Santa Clauses,” will also executive produce and direct the series. Kat Denning and Tim Allen will also be executive producers on the show.
No details on when this new show might hit our screens have been revealed yet, but hopefully we should get to see this show in 2025 on the ABC linear channel, along with Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States, and released as a Star Original exclusively on Disney+ internationally.
