Disney has released a new trailer for a brand new Latin American Star Original series, “Santa Evita”, which is coming to Star+ on July 26th 2022.

“Santa Evita”  is based on the bestselling book by the Argentine writer Tomás Eloy Martínez and follows the intriguing story of the embalmed body of Eva Perón after her death, which was kept waiting to be buried for three years for the construction of a monument that never materialized. In 1955, Argentina’s military forces overthrew then-president Juan Domingo Perón and hid Evita’s body for 16 years, in order to prevent it from becoming a weapon against the regime. Before her death, Eva had become a powerful political figure as General Perón’s wife, and her unburied wandering corpse influenced the country’s politics for more than two decades. “Saint Evita” is the story of a body without a tomb and the legend that was born around it.

This series consists of seven episodes and was filmed in more than 40 locations in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The series stars a renowned international cast led by  Natalia Oreiro  (Eva Perón),  Ernesto Alterio  (Colonel Moori Koenig) and  Diego Velázquez  (Mariano), with the special participation of  Francesc Orella  (Dr. Pedro Ara) and  Darío Grandinetti  as Juan Sunday Peron.

The series has already been confirmed to be coming to Disney+ in Spain on the same day, however, no international release has yet been announced for other countries like the UK, Canada or Australia yet. Expect to see this series released on Hulu in the United States.
