In June, Pixar will release the next instalment in the “Inside Out” franchise in cinemas.  The movie returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone.

Continuing the tradition of adding special cameos for the UK versions of Pixar’s movie, Disney has announced for the UK version of the upcoming Pixar film, “Inside Out 2”, TV personality Sam Thompson will be providing the voice of ‘Security Man Sam’, a character who finds himself on a chase with everyone’s favourite emotions.   Sam has previously starred in “Made in Chelsea” and many celebrity game shows, including “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!”, where he won.

Speaking of his role in the U.K. version of the all-new sequel to the beloved “Inside Out”, Sam Thompson said in a statement:

“Having watched Pixar films since I was a kid, it’s a dream come true to join the voice cast of Inside Out 2. The film nods to the rollercoaster of emotions growing up and what a wild ride your teenage years can be. I for one can’t wait to see my family’s reaction to hearing my voice on the big screen”.

Also starring in the film will be Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, Phyllis Smith, Tony Hale, Maya Hawke and Liza Lapira. “Inside Out 2” has been directed by Kelsey Mann and produced by Mark Nielsen.

Roger’s Take:   This isn’t the first time Pixar has brought in a celebrity to provide a voice for the UK version, as Tim Peake (Lightyear), Anne-Marie (Turning Red) , Gino D’Acampo (Luca) and Jeremy Clarkson (Cars).   It’s a nice little gimmick to get a little more attention within the UK, but ultimately, it doesn’t really mean anything since it’s probably just a single line and will be changed.

“Inside Out 2” is coming to cinemas on June 14th 2024, and will be arriving on Disney+ later in the year.
