Earlier this month, Disney released the season finale to the second season of the Onyx Collective drama series, “Reasonable Doubt”.

In “Reasonable Doubt,” you’ll judge Jax Stewart (Emayatzy Corinealdi) for her questionable ethics and wild interpretations of the law… until you’re the one in trouble. Then you’ll see her for what she is: the most brilliant and fearless defence attorney in Los Angeles who bucks the justice system at every chance she gets.

In the second season, after trying to heal from her wounds from last season’s arduous trial and deadly affair, Jax Stewart is attempting to get her life back on track. That is until one of her closest friends reveals that she has killed her husband. Her friend is claiming self-defence, but an uncompromising prosecutor thinks otherwise. Needing all the help she can get, Jax brings in an ambitious defence attorney to lead the case, but things get tense very quickly. Can Jax defend her friend, save her marriage and protect her energy while being catapulted into the biggest case of her career? Or will she lose it all?

Disney hasn’t yet announced if a third season of “Reasonable Doubt” will be happening.   No viewership information for the show has been revealed, either by Disney or via third party providers like Nielsen, which is usually an indication that the viewership is low.

During a recent interview with THR, the show’s creator, Raamla Mohamed, shared an update on a potential third season of “Reasonable Doubt”:

They definitely are happy with the way the show is performing, and it’s doing well and people are really excited about it so that makes me very happy. I’m hoping that I hear something before the end of the year either way. The most important thing is that people keep watching, keep telling their friends. Black content is important, whatever kind of show it is. Because we all relate to these shows differently. I remember when Power premiered on Starz, and it was like, “Oh, I’m into this.” It was fun to see us. It’s great to see Black actors really shine. I’m glad Bel-Air is doing well, so I hope that people are committed to Black content and continuing the shows that people are people are talking about.

Both seasons of “Reasonable Doubt” are available to stream on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ around the world.

Roger’s Take: Hopefully, the show has been pulling in enough viewers for Disney to renew it for a third season. A quick renewal would be ideal, especially to enable them to begin work on a potential third season, but Disney might be holding off on seeing the viewership data for the show on Hulu and Disney+.   However, Disney is drastically reducing the amount of general entertainment to save money and to focus on quality over quantity, so it puts any show that is not performing at risk of cancellation.
