Searchlight Pictures has started production on a sequel to the hit horror film, “Ready Or Not” in Toronto, Canada today, which will see Samara Weaving return.

In the original film, it told the story of what happens when a young bride marries into a ridiculously rich and delightfully deranged family. Her wedding night becomes her worst nightmare as she’s forced to play a lethal game of hide-and-seek and must fight to stay alive. 

The upcoming film will star Kathryn Newton and today, Disney has confirmed that Sarah Michelle Gellar, Elijah Wood, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, and David Cronenberg have joined the cast.

The sequel will also see Radio Silence, which is a filmmaking collective consisting of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, return to create the film. The pair also said in a statement regarding the new film:

“We’re thrilled to be returning to the world of Ready or Not with Samara, Brett, Avery and Andrew. And so excited to work with this immensely talented cast and the incredible artists across every department joining the Ready or Not family.”

Matthew Greenfield, President of Searchlight Pictures, added:

“We’re beyond excited to make another film with the phenomenal Radio Silence. With Ready or Not: Here I Come, we get to go on another ride with the amazing Samara Weaving, mix in awesome new voices, and bring audiences a fresh take that’s every bit as twisted and fun as the first one. This is for those who’ve been waiting, and those who didn’t see it coming.”

Tripp Vinson, Bradley J. Fischer, William Sherak and James Vanderbilt are also returning as producers. Villella and Tara Farney will executive produce the sequel.  VP of Production Richard Ruiz and Creative Executive Cornelia Burleigh will be overseeing the sequel for Searchlight Pictures, reporting to Co-Heads of Production and Development DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.

No plot details for the sequel have been revealed, nor have any details on when the film will be released, which is likely in cinemas first rather than being released on Disney+ or Hulu, or on what character these actors will be playing.

The first “Ready Or Not” is available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ in many countries.
