20th Television is currently developing a brand new drama pilot, “Will Trent”, which is based on Karin Slaughter’s bestselling book series and Deadline has revealed that Ramón Rodríguez has been cast in the lead role of special agent, Will Trent.

The series tells the story of Will Trent, who is a special agent at the Georgia Bureau of Investigations was abandoned at birth and endured a harsh coming-of-age in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system. But now, determined to use his unique point of view to make sure no one is abandoned like he was, Trent has the highest clearance rate in the GBI.

The project has been cleared for production and is being written by Liz Heldens and Dan Thomsen, who are also producing the series along with the author of the book, Karin Slaughter.

Ramón Rodríguez will be an executive producer for the series and he has previously starred in the Disney+ Original film, “The One And Only Ivan” and the Marvel series, “Iron Fist” and “The Defenders”.

Most recently, Ramón Rodríguez, was cast in the Hulu pilot, “Olga Dies Dreaming”, which has been revealed as not going ahead.

Karin Slaughter’s book series consists of ten novels, the first novel was called “Triptych,” and was published in 2006 and the most recent entry in the series called “The Silent Wife,” was released last year.

Should this pilot get the go-ahead, we should expect to see the series released on ABC and Hulu in the United States. Internationally, this would be released as a Star Original on Disney+.
