“Predator: Badlands” Becomes Biggest Hulu Film Premiere Since “Prey”
Earlier this month, Disney released the latest instalment in the iconic sci-fi “Predator” franchise, “Predator: Badlands” on Hulu and Disney+ around the world.
Set in the future on a deadly remote planet, “Predator: Badlands” follows Dek, a young Predator outcast from his clan, who finds an unlikely ally in Thia and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary.
This new sci-fi movie, which stars Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi and Elle Fanning, has been a massive hit on Disney’s streaming services, pulling in nine million views on Hulu and Disney+ around the world within the first five days on the service.
The “Predator” franchise has quickly become one of the cornerstones of Hulu, as the new film has been the biggest movie premiere on Hulu since the last instalment, “Prey”, which was also directed by Dan Trachtenberg.
Roger’s Take: This shouldn’t come as a massive surprise, as the film had some impressive box office numbers for the franchise and dropping onto Hulu and Disney+ at this time of the year, when more people are at home due to the bad weather, it was a recipe for bigger views, plus its an easy going action film that’s perfect for watching on the couch.
