This year’s EE British Academy Film Awards have taken place over the weekend and Disney has picked up a number of awards for Pixar’s Soul and Searchlight Pictures “Nomadland”.


Pixar’s Soul won two awards:

  • Best Original Score
  • Best Animated Film

Soul tells the story of a jazz musician, stuck in a mediocre job, who finally gets his big break. However, when a wrong step takes him to the Great Before, he tries to help an infant soul in order to return to reality.

 


While Searchlight Picture’s Nomadland won 4 awards including:

  • Best Film
  • Best Cinematography
  • Chloe Zhao won Best director
  • Frances McDormand won Leading Actress

Nomadland tells the story of a woman in her sixties who, after losing everything in the Great Recession, embarks on a journey through the American West, living as a van-dwelling modern-day nomad.

Pixar’s Soul is available now on Disney+ globally and Nomadland will be coming to Disney+ in the UK and Ireland on Friday 30th April.  The film was added to Disney+ in Canada last Friday and was released on Hulu in the United States in February.
