Disney has announced details on a brand new Spanish Original series called “La Suerte”, which is about a shy taxi driver called David, who unexpectedly becomes the driver of the Master, a figure of the bullfighter who leaves his retirement to recover the lost prestige.

The series consists of six episodes and is being made in collaboration with Boomerang TV. It has been directed by Paco Plaza (Veronica y REC) and Pablo Guerrero (Alba, Entre tierras), who said in a statement (translated)

“‘Luck is the story of a friendship. Or more than two. David and the Master, protagonists of our series, forged following a chance encounter that ends up proving crucial in the lives of both. And on the other hand our own. The one with two boys who met in the classrooms of the ECAM and those who – La Suerte, after 30 years of friendship, provided the opportunity to work together. The same fate that led us, like our characters, to live an extraordinary situation one night at the party held in a bullfighter’s hotel suite. The encounter with that reality so far from ours allowed us to glimpse the intimacy of some characters with such unusual lives and with codes typical of a world locked in itself and at the same time contemporary to ours. From that clash, that night, the story of David and the Master was born.

Diana Red and Borja González Santaolalla wrote this new original series. It was filmed in more than 59 locations across Spain, including La Caprichosa (Talavera), Las Ventas (Madrid), La Misericordia (Zaragoza), and La Malagueta (Málaga).

“La Suerte” stars Oscar Jaenada (Rambo: Last Blood), Elcar Jaenada (All Of Us Are Invited), and Ricardo Gómez (1898: The Last in the Philippines), along with Carlos Bernardino, Óscar Higares, Pedro Bachura (Antidisturbs, Venus), Jason Fernández, “Oscars Reyes” (Aida, La vida padre), Almudena Amor, Almudena Cid, Diana Peñalver, Aria Bedmar and Manuel Morón.

No release details for “La Suerte” have been announced yet, but as with most other international originals, expect it also to be released globally on Disney+.
