Disney has released some new images from the upcoming Muppets comedy series, “The Muppets Mayhem”, which follows The Electric Mayhem Band — Dr. Teeth on vocals and keyboards, Animal on drums, Floyd Pepper on vocals and bass, Janice on vocals and lead guitar, Zoot on saxophone and Lips on trumpet — on an epic, music-filled journey to record their first-ever studio album. With the help of a driven young music executive, Nora, the old-school Muppet band comes face to face with the current day music scene as they try to finally go platinum.

Entertainment Weekly has released some brand-new images from the upcoming series:

This new series is going to be a little different to previous Muppets shows, as it won’t be focusing on the traditional characters that are more well-known, like Kermit or Ms Piggy. The shows creator, Adam F. Goldberg, explained:

“This is just about the band specifically. We don’t have that deep bench of characters like when you do The Wizard of Oz or Treasure Island or A Christmas Carol. You could tell this giant story with the hundreds of characters that they have. We’re telling a very small story about this band and where they’ve been and where they’re going. It is about the band and not the tone of a variety show.”

With Jeff Yorkes adding:

“We have the freedom to go anywhere with these characters — they’re not as well known as the core characters. People recognize them, but we have the freedom to fill out their backstory and do whatever we want.”

“The Muppets Mayhem” stars Lilly Singh (“Nora”), Tahj Mowry (“Moog”), Saara Chaudry (“Hannah”) as well as Anders Holm (“JJ”) in a recurring role.

“The Muppets Mayhem” is developed by Adam F. Goldberg, Bill Barretta and Jeff Yorkes based on characters created by Jim Henson. It is written by Adam F. Goldberg, Bill Barretta and Jeff Yorkes; the executive producers are Goldberg, Barretta, Michael Bostick and Kris Eber. Yorkes is a co-executive producer. The Muppets Studio’s David Lightbody and Leigh Slaughter are also executive producers. The Disney Branded Television series is produced by ABC Signature, which is part of Disney Television Studios, and The Muppets Studio for Disney+.
