During the Walt Disney Studios Showcase at the D23 Expo, new details and images from the upcoming Pixar film, “Elemental,” were revealed to a hall packed with thousands of Disney fans.

Directed by Peter Sohn (“The Good Dinosaur,” “Partly Cloudy” short) and produced by Denise Ream (“The Good Dinosaur,” “Cars 2”), the film journeys alongside an unlikely pair, Ember and Wade, in a city where fire-, water-, land- and air-residents live together. The fiery young woman and the go-with-the-flow guy are about to discover something elemental: how much they actually have in common.

Revealed during the panel was the first look at Ember & Wade played by Leah Lewis and Mamoudou Athie, who make a connection, but can’t actually touch.

Some very early footage was shown to those in attendance and were also given a poster of the upcoming film.

“Elemental” is an original film inspired by Sohn’s childhood in New York, and it will be released on June 16th 2023.
