20th Century Studios has recently wrapped filming on a brand new instalment in the “Alien” franchise. Post-production has now begun to prepare the film for its theatrical release on August 16th, 2024.

This new Alien film has been directed by Fede Alvarez, who has previously directed “Don’t Breathe” and “Evil Dead”. Fede has also co-written the film with his longtime collaborator Rodo Sayagues. No plot details have yet been revealed about the new Alien film.

It will also be produced by the original “Alien” director, Ridley Scott and will star Cailee Spaeny, who has previously appeared in the “Mare of Easttown”. Also starring in the film will be Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu.

The film’s director Fede Alvarez took to social media to confirm that filming has now wrapped, which is great timing, should the actors be going on strike next week!

Time for a celebratory cigar, it’s a wrap!

Originally, the new “Alien” film was going to be released directly on Disney’s streaming services, including Hulu and Disney+, but recently, Disney confirmed that it will be released in cinemas next August.

This isn’t the only Alien project in development at Disney, as FX is creating a new series set on Earth that wouldn’t be connected to Ripley’s story.

While we wait for the new Alien film, you can watch the previous Alien films on Starz in the US and on Disney+ in many countries around the world now.
