Disney has released a new clip for the upcoming Disney+ original short film, “Nǎi Nai & Wài Pó”, which will be released on Disney+ on February 9th 2024.

“Nǎi Nai and Wài Pó” is a personal love letter from first-generation Taiwanese-American director Sean Wang to his Nǎi Nai and Wài Pó (Grandma & Grandma).  This multigenerational story follows this grandma super team that dances, stretches and farts their sorrows away.

Earlier this week, the short was nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Documentary Short Film category.  This short doc premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award.

This short will be the first instalment of the relaunched version of “People & Places”, which is Walt Disney’s Academy Award-winning documentary short film series that original ran from the 1950s and 1960s.  This new short is 17 minutes long.

The short has been directed and produced by Taiwanese American filmmaker Sean Wang.  Also serving as producers are Sam Davis ( “Period. End of Sentence”) and Malcolm Pullinger. Joanna Natasegara (“The White Helmets”) served as an executive producer
