Recently it was revealed that 20th Television was developing a new continuation of the classic 90s series “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”, which will see Sarah Michelle Gellar reprising the title role.

The project is still in the early stages of development and doesn’t yet have a pilot order for Hulu/Disney+, but casting is currently underway on the new show.

Some new details on the upcoming revival have been revealed by TVLine, stating that the new series will focus on a new Vampire Slayer and is going to be “the next chapter in the Buffyverse.”

The new Vampire Slayer will be a sixteen-year-old girl called Nova (though this is likely to be a placeholder), who is very smart and a bit of a longer. The show skews more Willow than Buffy.

Much like with the original series, she will be joined by some friends, which will include Hugo, an out-and-proud nerd who comes from money, and Gracie, a young expert on vampires who’s an acolyte of Gellar’s Buffy.

The upcoming show is going to be written by Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman, who previously worked on “Poker Face”. They will also be the executive producers and showrunners on the project. Chloé Zhao, who directed Marvel’s “Eternals” and won an Oscar for her Searchlight Pictures film “Nomadland”, will also be directing the show and will be an executive producer.

Other executive producers include Sarah Michelle Geller, along with the original shows executive producers, Gail Berman, Fran Kuzui, Kaz Kuzui and Dolly Parton.

As with any show currently in pre-production, it could still be a while before we see a revival of “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” on our screens.   Should the pilot get the go-ahead from Hulu, we will likely see it stream on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.  

The “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” series is available to stream on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally, along with the original film.
