More Cast Revealed For “Prison Break” Spin-Off Series Revealed
Disney’s 20th Television is developing a new “Prison Break” spin-off series, which is going to be its own thing, but set within the same universe as the original show.
The original series told the story of Lincoln Burrows, who was wrongly convicted of murder and sentenced to death, and his brother Michael Scofield, a brilliant engineer who devises an elaborate plan to break Lincoln out of prison.
“Prison Break” debuted on FOX in 2005 and ran for four seasons. It was followed up with a made-for-tv movie called, “The Final Break”. The show returned in 2015 with a fifth season. One of the reasons why “Prison Break” is returning is due to it becoming the most streamed series in the summer of 2024 following it being re-released on Netflix as part of a larger deal to share access to some select 20th Television shows in exchange for Disney getting access to some of its hit shows like “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Daredevil”.
The new spin-off show is being created by Elgin James, who will be writing and executive producing the project. He will be creating the show under his Sierra Drive production banner alongside four executive producers from the original series, Dawn Olmstead, Marty Adelstein, Neal Moritz and the “Prison Break” creator Paul Scheuring.
Deadline has revealed some of the cast for the show, which will include Clayton Cardenas (Mayans M.C., Mayor of Kingstown), JR Bourne (Mayans M.C., Teenwolf), Georgie Flores (Dumplin, Into The Dark) and Myles Bullock (BMF, Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist).
In the new series, Cardenas will portray the role of ‘Ghost,’ a ruthlessly dangerous inmate at one of the deadliest prisons in America. JR Bourne will play ‘Junior,’ a mentally unstable lone survivor of a decades-old prison break that devastated the town.
Myles Bullock will play the role of “Darius ‘Red’ Lewis,” an inmate at one of the deadliest prisons in America and Georgie Flores will play ‘Andrea,’ one of the female cadets training to be a Corrections Officer at one of the deadliest prisons in America.
It’s not expected that Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will be returning as their characters, Michael and Lincoln.
The show has already been picked up for a pilot for Hulu and should the show go ahead, we should also expect the show to be released as a Star Original on Disney+ internationally. With the show still in the early pilot stages, it doesn’t automatically mean the spin-off will be going ahead.
The previous seasons of “Prison Break” are available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.
