Disney is currently in the middle of filming a brand new “Descendants” spin-off movie in Atlanta, which is currently going by the working title of “The Pocketwatch” has started.

The bold new story of “The Pocketwatch” will take audiences through the rabbit hole to the hostile unincorporated territory of Wonderland, a magical, mysterious place made famous in “Alice in Wonderland.” The expansive new story introduces “Red,” the whip-smart and rebellious teenage daughter of the Queen of Hearts (“Alice in Wonderland”) and “Chloe,” the perfectionist and athletic daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming (“Cinderella”). In order to prevent an impending coup in Auradon – one that looms during the celebration of a new royal baby –, Red must join forces with Chloe to travel in back in time, via the White Rabbit’s pocket watch, to stop an event that would lead to grave consequences.

Brandy and Rita Ora will star in the film as Cinderella and the Queen of Hearts, with China Anne McClain playing “Uma”, Kylie Cantrall playing “Red” and Dara Reneé playing “Ulyana”. Also starring in the film will be Jeremy Swift and Leonardo Nam, who will be playing the roles of Principal Merlin and Maddox.

Deadline has revealed some more cast for the film, which includes Sam Morelos (That 90s Show), Anthony Pyatt (When I’m With You), Peder Lindell (Out Of My Hands), Mars (Heather), Tristan Padil (The Lake Merritt Monster), Kabir Bery (Squatting), Grace Narducci (Law & Order: SVU) and newcomer Aiza Azaar.

Here are the details of what characters they will be playing:

  • Pyatt portrays Hades. The fiery bad boy is cheeky with a dark side.
  • Lindell plays Morgie. The son of Morgana le Fay, Morgie is one of Uliana’s adoring sycophants.
  • Mars is Maleficent. This teen version of the iconic character, delighted by her own evil ideas, is a core member of Uliana’s Villain Kids Clique.
  • Morelos plays Zellie, the teen daughter of Rapunzel with a hipster vibe and fast-growing hair.
  • Padil plays Teen Prince Charming, who enjoys zooming down the school hall on a longboard.
  • Bery portrays Teenage Aladdin, who is inseparable from his girlfriend, Jasmine (Azaar).
  • Naducci plays Fay aka Teenage Fairy Godmother, who is comical in her struggles with develping her magical ability.
  • Azaar’s Teen Jasmine is inseparable from her boyfriend, Aladdin: “Call us Jaladdin!”

The new film will feature seven new songs, and a selection of classic Disney songs.

This new Disney+ Original film is being directed by Jennifer Phang (“Advantageous,” “Half-Life,” “Foundation,” “The Flight Attendant”), who is also a co-executive producer of the movie. The film’s script is written by Dan Frey and Russell Sommer (“Magic: The Gathering”). Returning to the franchise is production designer Mark Hofeling (“Descendants,” “Zombies,” “High School Musical”). Gary Marsh is an executive producer, and the casting directors are Alexis Frank Koczara and Christine Smith Shevchenko (Disney Branded Television’s upcoming “The Naughty Nine,” “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers,” “black-ish” and “grown-ish”).

The previous instalments of the “Descendants” films are available to stream now on Disney+.
