More Cast Revealed For “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” Revival

Production is currently underway on a pilot for the upcoming revival of the popular series, “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” for Hulu and Disney+.

The original show follows the adventures of Buffy Summers, a teenage girl who is gifted with the strength and skill to hunt vampires and the new series will continue the story, with Sarah Michelle Gellar returning as the Vampire hunter, along with a brand new vampire slayer, an introverted high-school student named Nova who will be played by Ryan Kiera Armstrong, who recently starred in the Disney+ Original series, “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew”.

Also set to star in the show will be Faly Rakotohavana, Ava Jean, Sarah Bock, Daniel Di Tomasso and Jack Cutmore-Scott.

New casting details on the upcoming revival have been revealed by Deadline. Merrin Dungey (The Lincoln Lawyer), Audrey Hsieh (Found) and Audrey Grace Marshall (The Flight Attendant) have joined the pilot, currently they are just set to be guest stars, but they could be upped to regulars if the project gets a series order.

Merrin Dungey will play Ms. LaDuca, the college counsellor at New Sunnydale Academy, while Hsieh and Marshall play Keiko and Jessica, who are high school students and members of the academy’s Evangelical Christian group.

Chase Sui Wonders will also be making a one-off guest-starring role in the pilot, where she will play Shirley, who is believed to be a vampire.

20th Television and Searchlight TV are behind the series, and the pilot will be directed by Chloé Zhao, who previously directed the Oscar-winning “Nomadland” and the Marvel film “Eternals.” Chloé has a first-look deal with Searchlight. The pilot will be written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, who previously worked on “Poker Face.”

“Buffy The Vampire Slayer” debuted in 1992 with a film starring Kristy Swanson, Donald Sutherland, and Luke Perry. It returned in 1997 with a TV series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alyson Hannigan, which ran for seven seasons. The original series is available to stream on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally, along with the original film.

Should Disney decide to continue with the project once the pilot has been created, hopefully, it won’t be too long until it arrives on Hulu and Disney+.
