Marvel’s “X-Men ’97” Season 2 Trailer Released

Disney has released the first trailer for the upcoming second season of Marvel Animation’s Emmy-nominated series “X-Men ’97”, which is coming to Disney+ this summer.

“X-Men ’97” revisits the iconic era of the 1990s as The X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future.

Season 2 continues with the heroic mutant team of X-Men, divided and thrown across different eras in time as they struggle to navigate their return home. Meanwhile, back in the 1990s, suspicious foes and new strains of mutant intolerance are on the rise in the wake of the X-Men’s absence.

Check out the season two trailer below:

The second season of the original animated series features 9 episodes, and the voice cast includes Ross Marquand as Professor X, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Lenore Zann as Rogue, and George Buza as Beast.

The series is executive produced by Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, Julia Lewald, Eric Lewald, Larry Houston, and Beau DeMayo. The supervising producer is Jake Castorena. Episodes written by JB Ballard, Beau DeMayo, Bailey Moore, Antony Sellitti, Brian Ford Sullivan, and Mariah Wilson. The episodic directors are Emmett Yonemura and Chase Conley.

Season two of “X-Men ’97” will premiere on Disney+ on July 1st 2026.   It hasn’t been confirmed whether new episodes will be released weekly, as in the first season, or if they will be released as a binge drop all at once, like “Marvel Zombies”.

The first season of “X-Men ’97”, along with the original animated series from the 1990s, is available to stream on Disney+ and is one of the most-watched original series on Disney+ globally.

Roger’s Take:  The original “X-Men” animated series was one of my favourite shows as a kid, where I would tune in each Saturday morning for the next episode, as this was my introduction to these characters.  The first season of the revival was able to strike a chord between nostalgia and pushing the story forward, with this new trailer feeling a little different.  It felt much less about nostalgia and more about delivering interesting storylines that just wouldn’t be possible in live action, and Marvel understands that animation gives them a way to tell bigger stories.   I’m really looking forward to watching this new season, and the trailer did an excellent job in getting me excited for more adventures.
