Sony has released the first trailer for the upcoming third and final instalment in the “Venom” trilogy, which is based on the popular Marvel Comics.

In the third movie, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on run, hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devasting decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.

“Venom: The Last Dance” will be released in cinemas in October 2024 . Due to a long standing deal between Marvel and Sony, which was made before Disney purchased Marvel, Sony Pictures has the distribution rights to make films featuring characters from the “Spider-Man” comic books, which include Venom, Kraven, Morbius and Madame Web.

Disney does have a multi-year deal with Sony for the US Pay 2 window for its theatrical releases, which does mean “Venom: The Last Dance” will eventually make its way onto Disney+ around two years after the theatrical release.

“Venom: The Last Dance” stars Tom Hardy, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach and Stephen Graham. The film is directed by Kelly Marcel from a screenplay she wrote, based on a story by Hardy and Marcel. The film is produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Kelly Marcel, Tom Hardy and Hutch Parker.

Roger’s Take: I’m looking forward to seeing the last chapter in the “Venom” trilogy, though I wouldn’t be surprised to see Venom pop up in the upcoming “Avengers: Secret Wars” movie due to the mutliverse angle.
