Today, a massive number of Disney created shows and films will be removed from Netflix globally, including “The Defenders” Marvel series, including “Daredevil”, “Iron Fist”, “Luke Cage”, “Jessica Jones” and “The Punisher”.

To tie in with the removal, Netflix subscribers can now no longer select Marvel avatars, including:

  • Daredevil
  • Luke Cage
  • Iron Fist
  • Jessica Jones

If you have still got one of these “Defender” avatars within Netflix, they will stay, but you won’t be able to reselect them if you change them.

The Marvel “Netflix” series will be heading to Disney’s streaming services at some point in the future. Currently, Disney has only confirmed that the series will be available on Disney+ in Canada from March 16th, and it’s expected internationally in countries across Europe and in Asia, that the series will be added to Disney+, since all of these countries have mature Marvel content including “Logan” and “Deadpool”.

However, no announcement has yet been made regarding where the series will be released in the United States, either on Hulu or Disney+. While in Latin America, the series could be available on Disney+ or Star+. Since Disney+ in the United States or Latin America generally hasn’t been adding content suitable for viewers over the age of 14, so adding the former Netflix Original series, will be a considerable shift in tone.

With Kingpin being revealed as the main villain in the Disney+ series, “Hawkeye” plus with both Matt Murdock and Jessica Jones rumoured to appear in the upcoming Disney+ series, “She-Hulk”, it would make sense to have these series available to Disney+ subscribers globally.

Recently, Disney CEO Bob Chapek has said that Disney+ will be getting more general entertainment in the US and earlier this month added shows like “Grownish”, “Blackish” and “Snowdrop”.  However, Disney hasn’t yet announced its long term plans for general entertainment content being added in the US.
