Marvel’s Kevin Feige Gives Update On “Wonder Man” Disney+ Series
While Marvel Studios generally has a tendency to announce its shows and films years in advance, usually during a presentation at a huge convention in front of thousands of fans, sometimes it likes to play its cards a little closer to its chest.
One of those projects is “Wonder Man”, which wrapped filming earlier this year following some delays due to the writer’s and actor’s strikes.
Officially, Marvel hasn’t announced any details about the upcoming Disney+ series, but on the first episode of the official Marvel Podcast, Kevin Feige was the first special guest, and he confirmed that the series is coming and that it’s a little different to anything we’ve seen before.
“We have a show coming up that we’ve talked very little about called Wonder Man, that I won’t talk about much today either except to say it’s extremely different. It’s very exciting to be a part of a company of 25 years or more, and a company that’s been around for 85 years, nestled [within] the Walt Disney Company, that’s been around for 100 years, and still being able to try new things, to take characters and stories to new places. That’s what’s exciting to me.”
The upcoming Disney+ series will star Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams who is a Hollywood stuntman and actor, with superpowers. The series will also see the return of Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, who appeared in “Iron Man 3” and “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings”. Also set to appear in the new series is Demetrius Grosse, Ed Harris, Josh Gad, and Lauren Glazier.
No other details on the upcoming “Wonder Man” series have been announced, such as what it will be about or when it will be released, but I’d expect some details to be revealed at the upcoming Studio Showcase during the D23 Ultimate Fan Event in August.
