Marvel’s “Blade” Loses Director
Earlier this year, at the San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios announced that “Blade” was going to be released in cinemas on November 3rd, 2023.
The film was originally announced at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con and will see Mahershala Ali play the vampire hunter, who has already appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, when he made a small voice-over cameo in the end credit scene in “Eternals”. “Blade” will also star Aaron Pierre and Delroy Lindo.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Bassam Tariq will no longer be directing the upcoming “Blade” film.
In a statement, Marvel Studios said:
“Due to continued shifts in our production schedule, Bassam is no longer moving forward as director of Blade but will remain an executive producer on the film. We appreciate Bassam’s talent and all the work he’s done getting Blade to where it is.”
Filming on the movie was due to start in November, but this date is likely to be pushed back.
This isn’t the first time “Blade” has been on the big screen, Wesley Snipes played the character in the 1998 movie, along with its two sequels. The character also had its own TV series.
