Last summer at the San Diego Comic-Con it was revealed that Robert Downey Jr would be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but not as Tony Stark, but instead as the film’s new villain, Doctor Doom.
Disney hosted a special announcement livestream event on social media, confirming the cast for the upcoming film with a lengthy video featuring chairs with the actors’ names on them. No other details on what the story of “Avengers: Doomsday” have been revealed, but it’s expected to be the first major film to bring together all the elements of the Multiverse saga, which has been playing out over the last few years, resulting in a major battle heading into the next “Avengers” film, that is called “Secret Wars” and is due to hit cinemas and Disney+ in 2026.
It was also previously revealed that Stephen McFeely, known for his work on the “Captain America” trilogy and “Avengers: Endgame,” has written the script of the new “Avengers” film.
Roger’s Take: The choice of doing the reveal with a very long and drawn-out video just showing the names of actors involved on chairs is an odd choice. It certainly got people talking on social media, but they’ve got to be careful they don’t stretch out these types of events too much in the future.
