Just ahead of the D23: Ultimate Fan Event, which will take place in Anaheim, California, over the weekend of August 9th, 2024, Disney has announced a shakeup of its upcoming theatrical release schedule.

Disney has added eleven untitled movies to its release schedule for 2027.

This follows the news that was revealed by Marvel at last week’s San Diego Comic-Con. “Avengers: Kang Dynasty” has been renamed “Avengers: Doomsday,” which will see Robert Downey Jr. return to the MCU but as the evil villain Doctor Doom. Plus, the titles of “Thunderbolts” and “Fantastic Four” were updated.

Marvel’s “Blade” is still scheduled to be released in cinemas on November 7th, 2025, though filming hasn’t begun yet. An untitled Marvel title has also been removed from the schedule for July 24th, 2026, following Marvel’s strategy of reducing the number of movies and shows being released to help with quality and superhero fatigue.

Searchlight Pictures is also delaying the release of “A Real Pain” by a couple of weeks from October 18th 2024 to November 1st 2024.  They’ve also confirmed this will be a limited release.

• THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS is the updated title of THE FANTASTIC FOUR dated on 7/25/25
• UNTITLED DISNEY is now dated on 8/8/25
• UNTITLED DISNEY is now dated on 9/12/25
• AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY is the updated title of AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY dated on 5/1/26
• UNTITLED DISNEY previously dated on 8/14/26 moves to 8/7/26
• UNTITLED DISNEY previously dated on 9/18/26 moves to 9/11/26
• UNTITLED DISNEY is now dated on 2/12/27
• UNTITLED DISNEY is now dated on 3/5/27
• UNTITLED DISNEY is now dated on 4/2/27
• UNTITLED DISNEY is now dated on 5/28/27
• UNTITLED PIXAR is now dated on 6/18/27
• UNTITLED MARVEL is now dated on 7/23/27
• UNTITLED DISNEY is now dated on 8/6/27
• UNTITLED DISNEY is now dated on 9/17/27
• UNTITLED DISNEY is now dated on 10/8/27
• UNTITLED MARVEL is now dated on 11/5/27
• UNTITLED DISNEY ANIMATION is now dated on 11/24/2

Roger’s Take:  With the upcoming D23 event, it wouldn’t be a surprised if some of these untitled movies are officially confirmed, but its important to note that these dates could change and its more about Disney claiming its dates in advance, so other studios can work around them if needed.
