Last year, Disney announced that the Marvel Ghost Rider series for Hulu was being cancelled and now MCU Direct is reporting that Marvel Studios is working on a brand new Ghost Rider project.

It’s unknown if this project will be a theatrical film or a Disney+ series, as it’s still in the early stages of development.

The Ghost Rider has previously appeared in two movies starring Nicholas Cage as Johnny Blaze, which we’re both made by Sony.  When the characters movie rights reverted back to Marvel in 2013, it didn’t take too long for Disney to start utilising the character in the ABC series, Agents of Shield.  When Gabriel Luna played the Robbie Reyes incarnation of the Ghost Rider. The Hulu series was going to be a new take on the character, but was still going to be played by Gabriel Luna.

This new MCU project will see somebody else take on the role of the Ghost Rider, since it’s likely that it will involve the Johnny Blaze version of the character.
