Marvel Executive Thinks “Wonder Man” Is The Best Disney+ Series Yet
Later this year, Marvel Television is releasing a brand new series called “Wonder Man.” The series will tell the story of Hollywood actor Simon Williams, who is thrust into the world of superheroes as he gains powers of his own and becomes the new superhero, Wonder Man.
The upcoming Disney+ series will star Abdul-Mateen II in the title role, plus we will also see the return of Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, who appeared in “Iron Man 3” and “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings”. Demetrius Grosse will also play the role of Wonder Man’s brother, Eric Williams, aka Grim Reaper. Ed Harris will play Neal Saroyan, Simon’s agent. Josh Gad and Lauren Glazier are also set to appear in the new series.
Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest created Wonder Man, which will be available on Disney+ in December 2025.
Marvel’s Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation Brad Winderbaum, recently shared an update on the upcoming “Wonder Man” series during an interview to promote the new Marvel show, “Daredevil: Born Again”.
“Wonder Man is eight episodes. It’s a very new flavor for Marvel. It’s straight from the minds of Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest. Honestly, it is one of my favorite things ever. I think it’s the best show no one’s ever seen, and I’m very excited to see the audience reaction to it. I think it’s a love letter to what we do as filmmakers. It’s a love letter to acting as a profession, and it’s a very sincere, beautiful show.”
With the confirmation of the new show getting eight episodes, one of the things many Marvel fans are interested in is episode lengths, with Brad confirming that the new show will have episodes of much more varied lengths.
“There’s a little bit of some streaming leeway in the episode runtimes, so I think our shortest episode is 20-something, and our longest is, like, 40-something.”
Roger’s Take: “Wonder Man” is going to be an interesting release from Marvel, as I imagine, like myself, that a lot of people don’t know much about the character since this will be the first time we’ve seen Wonder Man in action. It’s also always interesting to me to see the weird obsession with Disney+ shows runtimes, as most traditional TV shows fit around that same timescale, especially when you throw in the previous episode recap, introduction and credits.
