During a Disney+ presentation at the D23 Brazil event at the Transamerica Expo Center in São Paulo, Brazil, a new teaser trailer and poster for the upcoming Latin American original series, “Maria e o Cangaço”.

The series stars Isis Valverde as Maria Bonita and tells the story of the characters relationship with “Captain” Virgulino Ferreira da Silva, better known as Lampião, who is a well known bandit leader.  The show was directed by Sérgio Machado, Thalita Rubio, and Adrian Tejido.

The new series will premiere on Disney+ in Latin America in 2025, and as with most other Star Originals, I’d expect this series to be released as a Hulu Original on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ and as a Star Original on Disney+ internationally.
