‘Malcolm In The Middle’ Disney+ Reboot Wraps Filming
Last year, Disney announced it was bringing back the beloved family comedy “Malcolm in the Middle” for a limited, four-episode run on Disney+ globally.
The original “Malcolm in the Middle” saw young genius Malcolm trying to navigate life with his quirky, often difficult family. In these brand-new episodes, Malcolm and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal and Lois demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.
The new series will see the return of original cast members Frankie Muniz as Malcolm, Bryan Cranston as Hal, and Jane Kaczmarek as Lois. Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield will also reprise their roles as Malcolm’s older brothers, Francis and Reese. Also starring in the new series will be Anthony Timpano, who will play Malcolm’s youngest brother, Jamie, who was a toddler in the original series. Vaughan Murrae has also joined the cast and will be playing the role of Malcolm’s youngest sibling, Kelly.
Frankie Muniz took to social media this week to confirm that filming on the revival had wrap and shared some thoughts on how much he’s enjoyed working on the Disney+ project.
Just wrapped filming the Malcolm in the Middle reboot, and man, I’m still reeling. This experience was straight-up incredible—like stepping back into Malcolm’s wild world but with all the love and chaos cranked to 11. Reuniting with the cast, getting to know some new characters, laughing till it hurt, and making new memories on set felt like a dream I didn’t want to wake up from. It went by so fast, like a blur of perfect moments. I wish it could go on forever.
I’m so happy to have gotten the chance to relive being on this show with a greater appreciation of what we were making knowing how many people around the world truly love Malcolm and his family. Another big thing I am taking away from this experience is how much I truly love being an actor. I never officially felt like that label fit me, but now I wear that label proudly and hope to do so much more of it in the future. I am so sad to have to say goodbye to my MITM crew, I love each and everyone of you.
And PS: Life’s Still Unfair I had so many incredible pictures of all the cast I wanted to post but Disney won’t let me…. So imagine a picture of all of us together, having the time of our lives!
Linwood Boomer created the original series has returned as the writer and executive producer on the revival. Bryan Cranston, Tracy Katsky (KatCo), Gail Berman and New Regency’s Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Natalie Lehmann are executive producers. Ken Kwapis has directed all four episodes and executive produces. Jimmy Simons and Laura Delahaye are co-executive producers. The limited series is produced by 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios, and New Regency.
A premiere date for the new series will be announced at a later time, and while we wait, you can catch the original series on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.
