This past Friday, Disney released a brand new short called “Self”, which is about a wooden doll who desperately wants to fit in and makes an ill-fated wish upon a star, sparking a journey of self-discovery. Her desire to blend in with her peers leads her down a harmful path, challenging her perspective of both who she is and where she belongs.

“Self” is the latest from Pixar’s acclaimed SparkShorts program, which allows filmmakers six months to assemble a team and create a
short animated film. No major rules apply—filmmakers are driven by their need to tell a story and the nimble approach to do so.

Disney has released a new behind-the-scenes featurette showing how they made the short,

This new short was directed by Searit Huluf and produced by Eric Rosales.   Disney has also released a new poster for the short as well, which you can check out below:

You can stream “Self” on Disney+ now!
