Kelvin Harrison Jr. & Murray Bartlett To Star In Searchlight Pictures “O’Dessa”
Disney’s Searchlight Picture is developing a brand new film called, “O’Dessa”, which is going to be an original rock opera that is set in a post-apocalyptic future, where a farm girl goes on an epic quest to recover a cherished family heirloom. Her journey leads her to a strange and dangerous city where she meets her one true love – but in order to save his soul, she must put the power of destiny and song to the ultimate test.
The film is going to star Sadie Sink, who currently stars in “Stranger Things” and is going to be directed and written by Geremy Jasper, who has previously worked on “Patti Cake$”.
Deadline has reported that Kelvin Harrison Jr. (Chevalier) and Murray Bartlett (Welcome To Chippendales) have also joined the cast. Kelvin Harrison Jr is going to be playing the role of O’Dessa’s love interest, Euri Dervish — a punk performer described as an “unholy mix of Iggy Pop, Marlene Dietrich and Prince.” No details have been revealed about what role Murray Bartlett will be playing.
“O’Dessa” will feature original songs that have been written and produced by Geremy Jasper and Jason Binnick. Michael Gottwald will produce the film for the Department of Motion Pictures along with Noah Stahl, and Rodrigo Teixeira for RT Features. Exec producers include Jonathan Montepare, Dan Janvey and Lourenço Sant’Anna. SVP Taylor Friedman and Creative Executive Cornelia Burleigh are overseeing the project for Searchlight Pictures, reporting to Heads of Production and Development Katie Goodson-Thomas and DanTram Nguyen.
Production on “O’Dessa” is set to begin in May in Croatia.
