Kali Rocha Returning To “Grey’s Anatomy”
The smash-hit hospital drama series, “Grey’s Anatomy” is set to return for a 21st season in September and follows a team of doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial who are faced with life-or death decisions on a daily basis. They seek comfort from one another, and, at times, more than just friendship. Together they discover that neither medicine nor relationships can be defined in black and white.
Deadline has revealed that the show will be bringing back a character that hasn’t appeared in the series in 17 years, Sydney Heron, who is played by Kali Rocha. The character was originally introduced in the second season of “Grey’s Anatomy”, where her character oversaw the original interns, which included Meridth, while Bailey was on maternity leave. Kali also appeared in more episodes in the third and fourth seasons.
During the characters initial run on “Grey Anatomy”, she introduced a different style of teaching on the interns, which included eternal optimism and “heal with love” philosophy, which she had adopted after suffering a nervous breakdown over losing a patient and taking a break from medicine.
The character also previously went on a date with Dr Derek Shepherd, which didn’t work out and tried to get the role of Chief Resident, but failed.
Kali will only be returning as a guest star in the upcoming season, though no details on how she will return, what her storyline will be or how long she will be back for.
Roger’s Take: ABC has been bringing back a number of characters from the past, especially as old episodes of the show continues to draw in huge numbers of viewers on Netflix, Hulu and Disney+. I’m not sure how long this character will be back, though I can’t really remember the character, since it’s been a long time since I last saw her on the show.
Previous seasons of “Grey’s Anatomy” are available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States and on Disney+ internationally. The new season will return on Thursday, 26th September 2024 at 10pm ET, with new episodes arriving the next day on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States. The new season will also be coming soon to Disney+ in many countries internationally.
