Jonathan Tropper To Write Shawn Levy’s “Star Wars” Film
There are many Star Wars movies currently in development, including one about Rey Skywalker, which will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and “The Mandalorian & Grogu”, which will be directed by Jon Favreau.
One of the many projects currently in development is a new Star Wars film, which will be directed by Shawn Levy. Levy has previously worked with Disney on “Free Guy,” “Night at the Museum,” and the upcoming Marvel movie “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
The InSneider has revealed that Jonathan Tropper has joined the upcoming Star Wars project to write the film. Jonathan has previously worked with Shawn on the Netflix film, “The Adam Project” and “This Is Where I Leave You”. Other projects Johnathan has previously worked on include the Apple TV+ show, “See”, along with “Warrior” and “Banshee”.
Roger’s Take: Lucasfilm has had a rough couple of years; as the Star Wars franchise has shifted to Disney+ shows, it struggled to find the right path, with some shows like “The Acolyte” and “The Book Of Boba Fett”, missing the mark. So, it’s refocusing its energy on the theatrical side of the franchise. I think Shawn Levy has done some great work in the past, and I think his past films highlight his comedy/family-friendly skills, which I do think Star Wars needs to return to. The Star Wars films were created for children and families, which seems to have been lost in the last few years, and I hope this new partnership will deliver a blockbuster hit, if it ever gets released, as, let’s be honest, Disney hasn’t been able to get any Star Wars films out in over five years.
