One of the many projects currently in development for Disney+ is “Star Wars: The Acolyte”, which was originally announced at the Investor Day in 2020.

“The Acolyte” is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era, which is around 50 years before the events of “The Phantom Menace.”

The series is going to star Amandla Stenberg, and according to Deadline, Jodie Turner-Smith is finalizing a deal to join the cast of the show. No character details have yet been revealed.

Jodie Turner-Smith has previously starred in “Queen & Slim”, Netflix’s “Murder Mystery 2” and will be starring in the upcoming film “White Noise”.

Production on this new Disney+ series is due to begin in London later this year.

No other details on this new series have yet been announced, though hopefully, an update on the series will be revealed this weekend during the Studio Showcase panel at the D23 Expo.
