Jason Clarke To Star In Hulu Original “Murdaugh Murders” Limited Series
Earlier this summer, Disney announced Hulu had given a limited series order to a brand-new drama project, which is currently going by the working title of “Untitled Murdaugh Murders”.
The series is based on Maggie and Alex Murdaugh’s stranger-than-fiction family drama, a riveting account drawing from countless hours of reporting by Mandy Matney – journalist and creator of the popular “Murdaugh Murders Podcast” – as well as exclusive, insider knowledge from years spent following the case. It was previously announced that Patricia Arquette would play the role of Maggie Murdaugh.
Deadline has revealed that Jason Clarke has joined the project and will be playing the role of Alex Murdaugh, who murdered his wife Maggie and son. Jason has previously starred in the “Oppenheimer”, “First Man”, “Everest” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”.
Michael D. Fuller will be the showrunner and co-creator of this new series, having previously worked on “Quarry,” “Rectify” and “Locke & Key”. The other co-create on the series is Erin Lee Carr, who has previously worked on “Britney vs Spears,” “I Love You, Now Die” and “Mommy Dead and Dearest”. Nick Antosca (“A Friend of the Family,” “The Act” and “Candy”) and Alex Hedlund for Eat the Cat will executive produce along with Mandy Matney.
UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, will be the studio creating the show. They have previously worked with Hulu on the limited series, “The Act” and “Candy”.
No release details have been revealed for when it will be released on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+. Since UCP is the studio, it’s unclear if Disney will have the global distribution rights to release the series as a Star Original on Disney+ internationally.
