Jake Lacy To Star In Hulu’s “Furious” Series.

Disney’s Hulu is developing a new drama series that is loosely inspired by the 1987 movie, “Black Widow”, which is being created by Liz Meriwether, who has previously worked on “The Dropout”, “New Girl” and “Dying For Sex”.

The previously untitled show has been given the name, “Furious” and tells the story of two women: Catherine, who murders wealthy men whom she has married for their money, and Alexandra, an agent with the Department of Justice who grows obsessed with capturing her.

Deadline has revealed that Jake Lacy has joined the cast and will be playing the role of Marshall, a charismatic and well-liked character who grew up with Alice, with whom he had a deep love and connection. Sober and motivated to get his life back on track, Marshall can’t quite let go of his past with Alice.   Jake has previously starred in “The White Lotus”, “High Fidelity”, “Fosse/Verdon”, “Mrs America”  and “Apples Never Fall”.

Also starring in the show will be Emmy Rossum, who will play the role of Alice, an FBI agent who uses the secrets from a female serial killer’s past to try to find her.   Emmy has previously starred in “Shameless”.

“Furious” will also star Lola Petticrew, Scoot McNairy and Quincy Tyler Bernstine.

The original film, “Black Widow” (not to be confused with the Marvel movie), was released in 1987 and was written by Ronald Bass and directed by Bob Rafelson.

This new series will be created by 20th Television and Searchlight TV, with Matt Olmstead writing and executive producing Furious alongside Meriwether, who will also serve as showrunner. Joining them on the exec producing side are Rossum and Sara Moskowitz through Rossum’s Composition 8 banner; as well as Bass, who wrote the 20th Century Fox-distributed 1987 feature; and Sam Hoffman.

No other details on the upcoming series have been revealed yet, such as when it will be released, but we should expect the project to be released on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ around the world.
