Disney has announced that a brand new anime Japanese series called “Ishura” will be released globally on Disney+ on Wednesday, 3rd January 2024, with a new episode being released every Wednesday.  As with most international originals, this series will also be released in the United States on Hulu and also likely on Hulu on Disney+.

The show will also premiere in Japan on Tokyo MX, BS Nippon TV, Sun TV, KBS Tokyo and other channels.

The series is set in a world where the Demon King has died, and a host of demigods capable of felling him have inherited the world. A master fencer who can figure out how to take out their opponents with a single glance; a lancer so swift they can break the sound barrier; a wyvern rogue who fights with three legendary weapons at once; an all-powerful wizard who can speak thoughts into being; an angelic assassin who deals instant death. Eager to attain the title of “True Hero,” these champions each pursue challenges against formidable foes and spark conflicts among themselves. The battle to determine the mightiest of the mighty begins.

The series is an adaptation of a Manga by Meguri began serialization in Kodansha’s Monthly Shōnen Magazine in March 2021. It features the voices of Yuki Kaji, Reina Ueda, Jun Fukuyama and Akio Otsuka.

“Ishura” has been directed by Takeo Takahashi and Yuki Ogawa. The series has been written by Kenta Ihara and features music by Masahiro Tokuda.
