Neon Pictures has announced that it will be releasing the upcoming Hulu Original film, “Self Reliance”, exclusively in 225 AMC Theaters across the United States for one night only on January 3rd 2024.

The film tells the story of what happens when a middle-aged man (Jake Johnson) is invited into a limo by famous actor Andy Samberg, his dull life takes a thrilling turn. Johnson is offered a chance to win a million dollars in a dark web reality TV show, where assassins from all over the world attempt to kill him for 30 days. The catch? He can’t be killed if he’s not entirely alone, leading him to recruit an unlikely team to help him survive.

The film was produced by The Lonely Island and Walcott Productions, along with Ali Bell, Joe Hardesty and Jake Johnson. The executive producers of the film include Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone.

Also starring in the film are Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect), Natalie Morales (Parks and Recreation), Andy Samberg (Palm Springs), GaTa (“Dave”), Emily Hampshire (“Schitt’s Creek”), Mary Holland (Happiest Season), Boban Marjanović (Hustle), with Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), and Wayne Brady (How I Met Your Mother).

Tickets for the one-night-only showing are available to purchase now from AMC Theaters.   The screening will also include a ten-minute behind-the-scenes discussion between Jake Johnson and Lamorne Morris (New Girl).

“Self Reliance” is coming to Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States on January 12th 2024.  Disney has only acquired the US streaming rights to the film, so it’s unlikely this film will also be released on Disney+ outside the US, since Paramount Global Content Distribution picked up the film internationally.
