Back in 2019, Hulu released a new animated kids’ series called “The Bravest Knight”, based on a wildly popular children’s book by Daniel Errico called “The Bravest Knight Who Ever Lived”.   The story chronicles a young pumpkin farmer’s adventure as he attempts to become the bravest knight, who ever lived.

This series broke boundaries and featured a household with two dads (Sir Cedric and Prince Andrew), making it one of the first children’s television series with an openly gay main character. Following the inspiring and perseverant former pumpkin farmer, Sir Cedric, now grown and married to the prince of his dreams, “The Bravest Knight” recounts personal tales of his journey. Sir Cedric shares his story with his adopted 10-year-old daughter Nia, on how he transformed from day-time farmer to full-fledged knight. Nia, who is training to become a brave knight herself, learns important values such as honour, justice and compassion, proving that knighthood is much more than slaying dragons.

Variety has announced that a second season has been greenlighted and will see Alan Cumming and Jane Lynch join the vocal talent on the animated series.  They will play the roles of Lug Lug, a vegetarian ogre, and the pompous schemer Sheriff Reginald.

The show features a star-studded cast, including T.R. Knight as “Sir Cedric,” Bobby Moynihan as young Cedric’s troll sidekick “Grunt,” and Storm Reid as Not-Yet-Knight “Nia”.  Wilson Cruz, Christine Baranski, Teri Polo, and Steven Weber are also all returning for the second season.

Show creator Daniel Errico said in a statement:

“We are thrilled by the show’s reception, and excited for the chance to reveal the next chapter of the story, brought to life by a remarkable cast,” says

T.R. Knight added:

“I would have loved this show as a kid.  With all its humor and heart, I’m beyond proud to be a part of the adventures for season two!”

Produced by Big Bad Boo Studios, the series was released on Hulu in the United States and on CBC Kids in Canada.

The second season will arrive on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ later this year.  The first season of “The Bravest Knight” is available to stream now on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+.
