Following the success of documentaries about rockstars Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen, Hulu is about to take viewers on a journey into the world of heavy metal with a brand new documentary series that is currently going by the working title of “Into The Void”.

The series will chronicle the emotional sagas behind the most towering legends and unforgettable artists in heavy metal. It will go behind the stage into the real lives of heavy metal icons.

No details have been revealed about what bands will be profiled, though ‘Into The Void’ is a song by Black Sabbath, so I’d assume Ozzy Osbourne and his band will be featured.  Plus Deadline is suggesting that Metallica and Slayer are going to be highlighted.

This new eight-episode series is currently being produced by Vice Studios Canada.  It will be overseen by executive producers Evan Husney and Jason Eisener, who co-created the wrestling documentary series “Dark Side of the Ring” along with the Hulu/Star Original documentaries,”Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story”, “Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band” and “Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan and Sara”.

The upcoming series is set to debut on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States in 2025, though it hasn’t been confirmed if the series will also be available as a Star Original on Disney+ internationally.  However, since the last three documentaries they made for Hulu were also released internationally, hopefully, this new heavy metal documentary will follow suit.

Roger’s Take:  Disney is having plenty of success with its musical documentaries and specials, so it’s not surprising to see another one is in development, and why not cover heavy metal?
