The cast for the upcoming 20th Century Studios film, “Amateur”, are slowly coming together. The film is based on a novel by Robert Littell and tells the story of Charles Heller, a CIA cryptographer who, after his wife is tragically killed in a London terrorist attack, demands his bosses go after them. When it becomes clear they won’t act due to conflicting internal priorities, he blackmails the agency into training him and letting him go after them himself.

The film is going to star Rami Malek in the lead role of Charles Heller, along with Rachel Brosnahan, Caitríona Balfe, Laurence Fishburne and Adrian Martinez.

According to Deadline, Holt McCallany and Julianne Nicholson are the latest actors to sign on for the project.

Holt McCallany, who has previously starred in “Nightmare Alley” and “Mindhunter” is going to be play the role of CIA Deputy Director Moore, a “kill whoever we want” kind of guy who has spent his career behind a desk. It’s unknown what part Julianne Nicholson is going to play. Julianne has previously starred in “Blonde”, “The Outsider” and “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty”.

“Amateur” is going to be directed by James Hawes, who has previously worked on “Slow Hores” and is based on a screenplay by Ken Nolan, with Scott Frank and Gary Spinelli handling revisions. Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson are producing, with Rami Malek also serving as the film’s executive producer.

No other details on the film have yet been announced, such as when filming is due to begin or when 20th Century Studios has it scheduled to be released.
