“Hocus Pocus 3” Is Going Ahead
Ever since “Hocus Pocus 2” dropped onto Disney+ a few years ago, breaking viewership records for the streaming service, there has been lots of talk from the stars of the film, that a third film was potentially going to happen.
Back in 2023, Disney announced a third film was happening, but the project has been in limbo for many years and the stars of the franchise have been vocal in interviews about wanting to return.
The original film was released back in 1993 and told the story of three outlandishly wild witches, who return from 17th-century Salem after they’re accidentally conjured up by some unsuspecting pranksters. It’s a night full of zany fun and comic chaos once the tricky 300-year-old trio set out to cast a spell on the town and reclaim their youth…but first they must get their act together and outwit three kids and a talking cat.
But now, it’s official, according to Deadline, “Hocus Pocus 3” is going to be happen, with Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker & Kathy Najimy, all returning as the Sanderson Sisters.
Unfortunately, no other details about the film have been revealed, but it’s expected that it will be getting a theatrical release first, rather than going straight to Disney+ like the sequel did.
Both “Hocus Pocus” and “Hocus Pocus 2” are available to stream on Disney+.
Roger’s Take: This shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to see “Hocus Pocus 3” is going to happen, and I would suspect this could be the end of the franchise with the current stars due to the age of Bette. No doubt, if they can get this film off the ground soon, it should hopefully arrive in cinemas in time for Halloween in 2027 or later.
