“High Potential” Becomes Most Successful ABC Series Premiere On Hulu & Hulu On Disney+
One of this year’s new drama series, “High Potential”, which follows a single mom with an exceptional mind, whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective (Daniel Sunjata).
Disney has announced that the first episode of ‘High Potential’ has scored a whopping 20 million total viewers over 35 days across all platforms including ABC, Hulu, Hulu On Disney+ and digital platforms.
After 35 days of sampling over ABC, Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ and digital platforms, ABC’s “High Potential” series premiere achieved astonishing growth over its initial Live+Same Day audience with a near six-fold increase in Total Viewers (+468% – 20.38 million vs. 3.59 million) and a staggering 12-fold increase in Adults 18-49 (+1,091% – 4.17 rating vs. 0.35 rating).
Excluding encores, the “High Potential” series premiere generated an impressive 13.96 million Total Viewers and a 3.67 rating in Adults 18-49 across platforms – the highest-rated ABC series premiere in nearly four years – since 11/17/20.
It was also revealed that the first episode of “High Potential” stands as ABC’s most-watched series premiere on streaming based on views after 35 days on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
Based on the popular French series “Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI),” “High Potential” stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan, Daniel Sunjata as Karadec, Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Özdil, Amirah J as Ava, Matthew Lamb as Elliot and Judy Reyes as Selena.
“High Potential” is produced by ABC Signature, a part of Disney Television Studios. Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg are the executive producers for Goddard Textiles. Rob Thomas serves as showrunner and executive produces alongside Dan Etheridge of Spondoolie Productions, as well as Pierre Laugier and Anthony Lancret of Itinéraire Productions, a UGC company and Jean Nainchrik of Septembre Productions, a Mediawan Company. Alethea Jones is the director and executive producer. Kaitlin Olson serves as producer.
This week, Disney will release the fall finale episode, which airs on November 12th at 10 p.m. EST/PST on ABC and available to stream the next day on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+, Morgan agrees to show Ava around the LAPD, but things quickly take a dangerous turn when the precinct is held hostage by the friends of a recently convicted man. Can Morgan and the detectives outsmart their captors and lead everyone to safety?
Roger’s Take: ABC looks to have a major hit on its hand with “High Potential”, which has been a huge success and shows how while ABC is often a little too reliant on long-running favourites, it’s also able to mix it up with some new fresh shows each year and no doubt, I can see “High Potential” renewed for another season following these fantastic viewing numbers.
