“Grey’s Anatomy” Renewed For Season 22
In what should come as no surprise, Disney has announced that the smash-hit hospital drama series, “Grey’s Anatomy” has been renewed for a 22nd season. The show is already the longest-running primetime medical drama and the longest-running ABC primetime scripted series.
Recipient of the 2007 Golden Globe Award for Best Drama Television Series and nominated for multiple Emmys, including Outstanding Drama Series, “Grey’s Anatomy” is considered one of the great television shows of our time. The high-intensity medical drama, now in its 21st season, follows a team of doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial who are faced with life-or-death decisions on a daily basis. They seek comfort from one another and, at times, more than just friendship. Together, they discover that neither medicine nor relationships can be defined in black and white.
While the show isn’t as big as it used to be in terms of linear viewership, it’s a juggernaut on streaming platforms like Disney+ and Hulu, regularly topping the Nielsen streaming chart and pulling in millions of views each week.
The 21st season is currently rolling out with weekly episodes on ABC, Hulu, and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States. New episodes are also released weekly on Disney+ in many countries, including the UK and Australia. The previous seasons are also available to stream on Hulu and Disney+.
Roger’s Take: As a fan of the show since the very start, it’s not a surprise to see the show will continue, though I do kinda hope they take a look at giving some more interesting storylines as after 21 years, they’ve pretty much done everything before.
