Genneya Walton To Star In Marvel’s “Daredevil: Born Again” Disney+ Series
Filming is currently underway in New York on the upcoming Marvel series, “Daredevil: Born Again” for Disney+, and it has been revealed by Deadline that Genneya Walton has joined the cast.
The new series will see Charlie Cox return as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as the Kingpin, which will pick up after the events of “Echo”, where the Kingpin looks to become the mayor of New York.
Also returning for the new series will be Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen and Elden Henson as Foggy. Sandrine Holt, Michael Gandolfini, and Margarita Levieva will also star in the new series.
No details have been revealed about what character Genneya will be playing, but it’s said that she will be playing a young journalist with connections to a character from the original “Daredevil” series (possibly the daughter or granddaughter of Ben Urich).
Genneya Walton has previously starred in Amazon’s “Candy Cane Lane” and the Hulu/Star Original, “Darby And The Dead”.
Filming on the new series had begun last summer, but production was shut down last summer due to the actors’ strike. During this shutdown, the executives looked at what had already been filmed and decided to do something drastic, removing the writers and the director and bringing in a new creative team, which includes “Moon Knight” directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. The new showrunner will be trying to use as much footage that’s already been filmed as possible, but still making changes and shooting new episodes.
Originally, the series was set to debut in 2024 with 18 episodes, but with the delays and creative changes, the Disney+ release has been pushed back, and the number of episodes is expected to be cut.
Daredevil: Born Again is expected to be released on Disney+ next year, and while we wait for “Daredevil: Born Again”, you can now check out all of the Defender-era shows on Disney+!
