Disney’s Onyx Collective is currently developing a new original series called, “The Other Black Girl”, which is based on a book of the same name by Zakiya Dalila Harris, and it has recently started filming in Atlanta.

This new series follows Nella, an editorial assistant who is tired of being the only Black girl at her company. So when Hazel is hired, Nella is excited at first until her star begins to rise. Nella spirals out and discovers something sinister is going on at the company.

“The Other Black Girl” will star Sinclair Daniel, Ashleigh Murray, Brittany Adebumola, Hunter Parrish, Bellamy Young and Eric McCormack.

Deadline is reporting that Garcelle Beauvais, who has previously starred in Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” has joined the cast.

Garcelle Beauvais will be playing the role of Diana Gordon, who is a world-renowned author who has been best friends with Kendra Rae Phillips, the former Black editor at Wagner. They lived in the same neighborhood and remained besties all throughout college, and Kendra Rae even edited the book that launched her into stardom. Since the book came out, the pair have grown apart.

The Onyx Collective is creating the series and will be executive produced by Rashida Jones, Tara Duncan, Adam Fishbach, Zakiya Dalila Harris, Danielle Henderson, and Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey.

This new series will be released on Hulu in the United States, and we should expect to see it released as a Star Original internationally on Disney+ and on Star+ in Latin America.
