Disney has announced that the Japanese Star Original series “Gannibal” is going to be coming to Disney+ in the United Kingdom and Ireland, on Wednesday, 28th December 2022, which is the same day as the series is released on Disney+ in many countries around the world and on Hulu in the United States.

After causing a major incident, police officer Daigo Agawa takes his wife Yuki and daughter Mashiro to live in the remote mountain village of Kuge. Despite seeming a perfect place to recover from the ordeal, a missing persons case remains unsolved of the previous officer posted there. The village thrives on forestry, with residents making their living from cypress timber. In charge of this industry’s operations is the Goto family, who own most of the village. One day, a body of an old woman is found on the mountain. The Goto family posits that it was a bear attack, but Daigo notices a human bite mark on the body and begins to suspect something is not quite right with the village.

Producers on the new series include Teruhisa Yamamoto, who just won the 94th Academy Award International Feature Film Award for “Drive My Car”, along with the “Bet Kegurui” series and “Ushijima the Loan Shark” series. Akihisa Yamamoto and Tatsuya Iwakura are producing the series. Takamasa Oe is writing the screenplay. And it will be directed by Shinzo Katayama, who previously directed “Siblings of the Cape”.
